Unveil Space: Positive + Negative

The exhibition Unveiling Space: Positive + Negative accounts for the nuances in space that are generated through urban architecture. Light and shadow build spaces that change over time. Buildings are revealed in different ways every second, every minute, and every hour. Each construction that seems immovable in the space it inhabits, tells a different story every day between noises, silences, tonal ranges, ephemeral reflections or permanent marks. Urban architecture seems to be an interlude of light and shadow where the negative and the positive builds.

I don't know

These are the architectures that we leave after the arrival of the pandemic, the meeting places. Where the greetings were not given with the elbow, nor was it to be a meter away. Where more than 10 people could be in an enclosure without any problem. As individuals of Western culture we are used to being close, to greet each other with a hug and a kiss on the cheek and to have our face uncovered in public space. Urban architecture is now a scene of new dynamics. Large, inactive and abandoned buildings, while there are people without a roof. On the other hand, those who have “a ceiling and four walls” modified their space according to their needs and from the need comes a reflection on the space, to think about it from a new perspective. A space with previously designated functions, it became a hybrid between the private and the public with a constant dialogue between the outside and the inside through a single technology medium.

Today urban architecture asks us about its functions, its limits, its hierarchies and above all, how are we going to inhabit it again?
